What if God would call your children to be in missionary work? How would you feel about it? Could you give your blessing and support? Many missionaries can trace the first awareness their call to missions back to their childhood. Let’s pray for parents to be supportive of their offsprings’ calling and give not only approval, but undergirding as well.

“I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the LORD. For his whole life he will be given over to the LORD.” And he worshiped the LORD there.” - 1 Samuel 1:27-28 (NIV)

Maybe God is calling you to full time service as a missionary. We want to encourage you to seek God’s direction both in the Word, and in the doors that open or close for you. It’s fair to ask God for clear signals to answer yes to this huge and exciting calling. Today we want to pray for all who want to become career missionaries.

What you want people to know about you: Originally from Baton Rouge, Pastor Joe grew up as a NFL coach’s son and went on to play College football at Louisiana State University. He had considered a professional football career, but after a dramatic experience with Christ he entered into full-time ministry in 1989. Pastors Joe and Lori founded Celebration Church in October 2000 as a non-denominational church with a vision to connect people to their destiny through the local church and serve the local Austin area. There are hundreds of little African lives to whom Children’s Cup is teaching the ways of Jesus. They are learning about his life and death and resurrection. Pray with us that they will not only give their hearts to Christ, but also to dedicate their lives to full-time service in God’s kingdom.

Day 35 - Loneliness

Kids who have lost parents and sibling, as you can imagine, feel very lonely. Sleeping on random doorsteps, covered with a newspaper, contrasts greatly to our own children being tucked in to a soft warm bed by moms and dads who read a bedtime story and pray with them. God, wrap your loving arms around them. Lead them to the place where they find your love.

Day 34 - Child-headed Households

Please join us in prayer for our orphans who have been thrust into family leadership at tender ages. Not only do these kids have to fend for themselves, they also have the responsibility of younger siblings. Ask God to give them wisdom beyond their lack of experience.

“He who fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge.” - Proverbs 14:26 (NIV)

Emily and I took a trip to Swaziland in 2007 during which we were able to visit and experience first hand young children that have the responsibility of leading a household. I will never forget walking into those houses and speaking with the children about their daily lives. These kids are so grownup and mature on the outside, but underneath all that, is a precious child crying out for attention, love and someone to hold them close. Our prayer today is that our heavenly Father would sit down next to them, wrap His loving arms around each of them and cover each child with his protection and peace.

Pray with us today….
Father we ask you to hear our cry for these children, Lord we ask that your love and mercy will enter every household and flood each room with your presence. You see all things Father and we ask you to give courage and faith to these children. We pray Lord that in their everyday lives You will bless them and meet them in their circumstance. May your name be known in every household, may they have an encounter with you today and learn that the name of Jesus is powerful and casts out all darkness and despair.

Lord your love, heals all relationships, sickness, broken hearts and provides us with the strength that we need for tomorrow. As we cry out formore of You in our own lives so to do we ask that you bless this prayer and cover every little life that faces the task of leading a household. We pray against the enemies stronghold in these broken families and on the continent of Africa, the plan of the enemy shall not prevail.

Thank you Father for your promise, and may the name of Jesus be heard loud today as we come together in prayer across the globe.

African youth who are orphaned have a hard time making right choices because there has been little guidance in their growing up years. As ‘Cup enters their lives, we are teaching them how to make proper decisions, to say no to sin and yes to wholesome living.
