Daniel: Restoring Health

Daniel: Restoring Health

   Alyssa Anderson
   21 August 2019

Seven-year-old Daniel attends our Guerra CarePoint in the Dominican Republic. Daniel, his parents, and two siblings live together in a humble, one-bedroom home. As soon as the CarePoint first opened a year ago, Daniel started attending. His mother also began volunteering at the CarePoint feeding the children and helping out with chores.

Young Daniel and his brother both suffer from seizures. Paying for medication and doctor visits is difficult and costly for his family. Now, thanks to nutritious food at the CarePoint, Daniel looks healthier, no longer has anemia, and has gained weight. The facilitators and his family are thankful to see his health improving. Spending time at the CarePoint has caused Daniel to come out of his shell and be more open with others.

Thanks to the food, discipleship, medical care, and love provided at the CarePoint, Daniel and his brother are motivated to continue their journey by relying on the Lord. Lessons at the CarePoint have taught them that Jesus died on the cross for everyone. Daniel and his family continue on their faith journey today with support from the local CarePoint. They know it is a refuge and a place to find the help they need.
