Junior: Vision for a New Future

Junior: Vision for a New Future

   Glenda Mendez
   1 July 2019

In a town called La Barquita in the Dominican Republic, there is a friendly face that belongs to Junior. Living with his mother, uncle, and younger brother, Junior and his family share a small block home. With his father being in jail, his uncle helps provide for his family while his mother keeps the home.

Junior attends the La Barquita CarePoint and has grown in his knowledge of Jesus all while making new friendships. The love and kindness he has received has made Junior feel like he belongs.

Every child in school experiences some kind of difficulties at one point or another. It can be difficult when one of those struggles is vision and there’s no way to correct it.

Junior’s life changed tremendously when CarePoint program funds were able to provide him with glasses.

It has been a blessing to Junior because he has previously experienced difficulty in school due to very poor and blurred vision. He is now able to see without any difficulty and study more easily. Junior is full of joy when sharing with others. He also has learned to thrive in many other areas, such as discipline, and to be collaborative and empathetic. With new glasses, he has now been given vision and the hope of a beautiful future as a singer and a great doctor.
