Michelle: Building Her Foundation on Christ

Michelle: Building Her Foundation on Christ

   Alyssa Anderson
   26 July 2019

Thirteen-year-old Michelle has been attending the church at Pasadita CarePoint for six years. When the CarePoint opened in 2017, she began attending the program regularly, getting involved in the Bible Club and other activities offered at the CarePoint. Even while facing challenges at home with her father, Michelle continued pursuing her faith in God. Through the teaching at the CarePoint, she learned that God is her Heavenly Father and loves her unconditionally.

Although Michelle’s father is not a Christian, her mother is now seeking God, after seeing the transformation in her daughter’s life. She volunteers at the CarePoint, and prays for her husband to come to know God. Michelle’s biggest prayer is for her family to experience God’s love and come into relationship with Him.

At the age of twelve, Michelle received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and was water baptized. Her desire is to grow stronger in her faith, and be a light to others around her. Although her peers often try to discourage her from her faith, Michelle boldy continues to follow God. The volunteers and the activities she participates in at the CarePoint have provided spiritual encouragement and guidance. She is growing strong in the Lord, and one day dreams of making a difference in her community as an engineer.

Michelle’s favorite Bible verse is John 3:16, because it speaks about the unconditional love God has for all people. Through the CarePoint, Michelle not only knows God’s love, but now has a desire to share it with her family and friends. Because of sponsors like you, children all over Belize are finding the hope of God in their own lives, and are being empowered to share it in their homes and communities.

Alyssa Anderson has been a part of the Children’s Cup team since 2013. One of her favorite assignments was helping create the Economic Empowerment program in Eswatini, which empowers teenagers at the ‘Cup CarePoints to become leaders in their community. Alyssa and her husband, Dustin, live in Texas, but enjoy any time they get to spend on the field.
