Izithandani is located in the municipality of Badplaas, a very poor region of South Africa. With over 50% unemployment, not much hope is here. These beautiful people are all Swazis as this area of South Africa was, at one time, eSwatini. They have remained for generations, and the local chief has noticed that something is different in the community. This beautiful region is filled with game parks and macadamia nut farms. The typical wide-topped acacia tree can often be found with community members sitting in the shade telling stories about years gone by and meeting about the future of their communities.

The country is plagued with HIV, and the numbers of orphaned and vulnerable children continue to grow. Though Apartheid is in the past, a remnant of racism and segregation remains, adding to the challenges of ministering to the poor.
