Pius is doing well in school and enjoys his English class. He is studying hard so he can pursue his dream of being a doctor. Pius lives with his sister and grandmother, helping with chores by washing the dishes. In his free time, he loves getting his friends together for a game of soccer.

Makholweni

Makholweni is situated in the busiest township of eSwatini’s largest city, Manzini. Most of the children in this community live in single-headed households in rented flats. They often move from one place to another as their caregivers have piece jobs or contract jobs in the shops of Manzini. The huge disadvantage of living in this area is that families cannot plough or grow crops for a living because the houses are built closely to each other. The children in this area are exposed to many things good and bad as the community is near the city center.

Only slightly smaller than New Jersey, Eswatini is almost completely bordered by South Africa, with a portion of the country bordered by Mozambique. More than half of the population live below the poverty line, and around 38% of the population is under the age of 15.
