Sponsorship FAQs

Have a question about your child sponsorship?
Check out some of our most frequently asked questions below. If you still have a question that hasn't been answered, contact us through the red chat icon in the bottom right-hand corner, email us at, or call us at 1-888-624-4895.
What am I agreeing to as a child sponsor?

To protect the children we serve, it is expected that all sponsors will adhere to the standards outlined in the Children’s Cup Child Protection Policy (See next question in this list of FAQs).

What is Children's Cup's child protection policy?

Children’s Cup is committed to protecting the security, privacy, and dignity of the children we serve through our child sponsorship program.

Children’s Cup desires to ensure that children and their families are protected from inappropriate and unsafe internet and social media use, including the sharing of private information about a child and their family. We strive to help sponsors develop a meaningful relationship with their sponsored child in a way that is safe, secure, and fulfilling. Because of this, we ask our sponsors to adhere to the following standards while participating in our sponsorship program:

  • Direct, unmonitored communication with your sponsored child or family is prohibited. This includes contact through phone calls, internet, or social media (e.g. Instant Messaging, Email, Facebook, Skype, Whatsapp, etc.).

  • Children's Cup does not allow unplanned visits to the child’s residence or community, under any circumstance, without prior knowledge, approval, and oversight of Children’s Cup.

  • Because your privacy and security are important to us, sponsored children and families are discouraged from contacting sponsors outside of what is facilitated through our sponsorship team. Any un-facilitated contact initiated by your sponsored child or their family should be reported to Children’s Cup for both their security and yours.

Children’s Cup believes that all people are made in the image and likeness of God, therefore we strive to portray the lives of children, their families, and members of their community with dignity and respect. We also seek to obtain the informed consent of parents, guardians, and/or community leaders for a child’s participation in our child sponsorship program.

I pay for the sponsorship, but I want the letter from our sponsored child to be directed to my own children. Can I do that?

We will do our best to have your sponsored child write their letters addressing your child. In fact, when you send a letter to your sponsored child, if you’ll sign it as coming from the name who you want the sponsored child to write back to this the best way to ensure the letter you receive is directed to your own child.

Note: The primary name on your Children's Cup account will receive the end of year tax statement.  So be aware that if you make your own child’s name is the primary name on the account, the tax statement will also be addressed your child.

I need to update my payment information. How do I do that?

To manage your payment information you can log in to your online account any time at and select “My Giving.” From there, you’ll be able to make changes to your recurring gift. Or, you can contact our team through the red chat icon at the bottom right of the screen, or call us at 1-888-624-4895.

How long does it take for my child to receive a letter from me?

While handwritten letters to your sponsored child can take up to 30 days to be delivered due to postage logistics, writing online significantly speeds up that process! Online letters are typically processed, printed, and delivered to your child within 5-10 days. Regardless of how you send your letter, you can expect to receive a reply letter from your child about 6-7 weeks from the time the child receives your letter.

How do I write to my sponsored child?
You may log on to your account in the top right menu and email a letter to your child. This is by far the least expensive and most efficient way to write to your child. Your letter will come to our office, where we will process and deliver it to your child for you! Check out this example letter from a sponsor to their sponsored child.

You may also send letters via our postal address (P.O. Box 1930, Keller, TX 76244.) All letters must fit in a standard size envelope. Check out your letter's journey through the video below:
Can I send money directly to my child?
We forbid cash gifts, but we highly encourage you to give a gift of groceries to your sponsored child’s home through your sponsor dashboard. We also encourage you to consider participating in a short-term missions trip to visit your sponsored child, and bring with you some thoughtful gifts for him or her and the other children at the CarePoint.
What happens if my child leaves the sponsorship program?

From time to time a child will leave the sponsorship program at their CarePoint, often due to their family moving to another community,  the child graduating high school, or a number of other situations. Because the relationship you have with your sponsored child is important to both you and the child, if your child transitions out of the program, we will share the information we have on their new situation. We will also automatically reconnect your sponsorship to another child in need at the CarePoint.

If, however, you wish to personally select a different child to sponsor, or if you prefer to cancel your sponsorship pledge, you can do so by emailing or calling 1-888-624-4895.
