Social Welfare: Safeguarding Children

Preventing harm and promoting the well-being of children is one of our top priorities at Children’s Cup. Our team values that our children are not only fed but also emotionally and psychologically healthy. It has been incredible to see our Social Welfare Advocates step out their comfort zones and hold their first ever Safeguarding Children Refresher Training for our staff and volunteers in their respective countries.

Maria from Belize was bold and brave to stand in front of her colleagues and refreshed the team on the importance of being alert and keeping an eye on the children making sure that they are not being harmed by anyone. Maria was the first SWA to train 10 of her colleagues on the first day.

Claudia in Mexico also rallied the team together and educated them on the reasons why every one of us working with children need to have an understanding on issues affecting children today. Claudia’s passion and sense of urgency to keep communicating this message was very clear and she managed to train 12 of her colleagues on the first go.

Thabisile in South Africa did a great job visiting the CarePoints to continue bringing awareness to our team members on the repercussions of trauma if we are not proactive in protecting the children from the many dangers that threaten their livelihoods. Thabisile gathered a total of 15 team members and made sure they received this crucial training.

These three amazing SWAs are to be celebrated for being trend setters stepping into something new but yet so important to the welfare of the children that we serve. Their work is not yet finished as they will continue to bring awareness and reminders to all their colleagues and also the communities that surround them. It takes a whole village to raise and protect the children!
