TOGETHER WE ARE GIVING HOPE,

INSPIRING DREAMS & CHANGING WORLDS.

FRIENDSHIP IS AT THE HEART OF OUR APPROACH.

The vision of Children’s Cup to inspire children and change their worlds is achieved through the power of friendships. True transformation in the lives of the children we serve happens through genuine connections with our dedicated friends who deeply connect with the children we serve.

Friends of Children’s Cup create meaningful relationships with the children. These friendships go beyond just providing support; they become the catalyst for hope and inspiration. Our team and our friends walk alongside the children, empowering them to overcome obstacles and envision a brighter future.

Friendship creates safe spaces, where children can freely express themselves, explore their dreams, and find encouragement to pursue those dreams. Our friends ensure that the children know they are loved, heard, cherished, and believed in, and this empowers the children to embark on a journey of growth, resilience, and transformation. Through these powerful friendships, we foster an environment where the vision of giving hope, inspiring dreams, and changing worlds becomes a shared reality.

WHY HONDURAS

Children in Honduras encounter significant challenges that undermine their well-being and future prospects. These challenges include abject poverty, widespread gang activity, fractured family structures, and a struggling education system exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abject poverty perpetuates a cycle of despair, depriving children of basic necessities and limiting their opportunities for a better future. The prevalence of gangs in Honduras poses a constant threat to the safety and well-being of children, exposing them to violence and criminal influences. Fractured family structures, often marred by domestic violence, substance abuse, or abandonment, contribute to children's vulnerability and their inclination to seek refuge within gangs. Moreover, the education system's struggle to provide quality education, compounded by the disruptions caused by the pandemic, further hampers children's access to essential learning opportunities.

These challenges collectively impede the well-being and hinder the future prospects of children in Honduras. Addressing these issues is vital to providing children with the necessary support and opportunities to break free from the cycle of poverty and violence, ensuring a brighter future for them.

how YOUR FRIENDSHIP MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Friendships are the cornerstone of our approach and the catalyst for transformation. We have developed a model centered around building meaningful connections with the children we serve, providing them with a safe and nurturing space called a CarePoint. This is a safe place where kids can come to be known, seen, valued, and loved. Here they find friendships and receive the support they need to thrive.

To combat hopelessness, our initial step is to address the immediate physical needs of the children. We ensure they have access to nutritious meals and address their essential physical requirements. By starting here, we lay the foundation for their overall well-being and create an environment where they can transition out of survival mode and begin to flourish.

THE CHILDREN’S CUP PROGRAM

Our program is designed as a comprehensive three-part experience that guides children through their entire childhood journey. It begins with the "Hopeful Heroes" phase, where children learn to build their lives on the foundation of hope in Jesus. We provide them with spiritual guidance, instill values, and help them develop a sense of purpose and faith.

In the "Dream Chasers" phase, we focus on nurturing children's dreams and helping them discover the great plans that God has for their lives. Through mentorship, counseling, and educational support, we encourage them to envision a future filled with possibilities and equip them with the tools they need to pursue their aspirations.

As the youth transition into adulthood, we shift our focus to helping them become "Change Makers." We empower them by providing life and job readiness skills, vocational training, and mentorship, enabling them to live out God's purpose for their lives and make a positive difference in their communities.

A LONG-LASTING IMPACT

Over the last 30 years, our programs have grown and expanded, but the core values remain unchanged. We begin by sharing the love of Jesus and consistently meeting the felt needs of the children. This foundation allows us to build genuine friendships that foster long-term transformation, not only for individuals but also for their families and entire communities.

Through our model of friendship and holistic support, we aim to break the cycles of despair and offer children a brighter future. By addressing their physical, spiritual, and emotional needs, we create a nurturing environment where they can thrive and develop into confident, resilient individuals who can contribute positively to their communities. With the combination of our Children's Cup programs, the dedication of our teams and volunteers, and the support and encouragement from our friends, we are able to make our vision and mission a reality, giving hope, inspiring dreams, and changing worlds.

The Friendship with Action Church is already making an impact in the community of Teupasenti!

MEET TOñito

Antonio (Toñito) is famous at the Teupasenti CarePoint!

When our team first met him, they noticed he seemed troubled and was often quite restless. They soon learned that he comes from a dysfunctional home where his father was never present, and his mother suffers from psychological problems, refusing medical treatment.

From an early age, Toñito has had to face challenges that no child should have to experience. And as a result, school became quite a struggle for him, too. Due to the circumstances, his mom showed a lack of interest in getting Toñito and his brother enrolled in school at all. In fact, when we first met him, at the age of eight, he had hardly developed any fine motor skills. His inability to even hold a pencil was a source of embarrassment for him.

He would often leave the classroom, throw tantrums, and act out. He was used to being out on the street, playing, and doing his own thing every day. At one point our team suspected he may have a form of ADD. But after working with him for over a year, we realized he simply wasn’t feeling challenged. He needed a type of teacher who would keep him engaged in exercising his intelligence. We partnered with ALFASIC, a private accelerated education program that works to help children level up their education. We enrolled Antonio and got him leveled up to the fourth grade!

Meanwhile, Iris, the CarePoint facilitator began looking for new learning techniques and approaches to try out with Antonio until she found something that clicked. She discovered that by challenging Toñito through learning games, he responded in a much more positive way. (Challenges such as drawing competitions against other children). The team began to see favorable results in Toñito’s learning - because he is competitive and does not like to lose ;)

The CarePoint team adapted our curriculum for Toñito to include short challenges that increased in complexity. As they slowly added levels of complexity to each challenge, Tonito improved in the quality of the assigned task - whether it was drawing, painting, reading, etc. As he advanced through each grade, we began to notice he had a particular aptitude for art. He could declare poetry with remarkable talent and showed an artistic inclination when painting. It was incredible to see his talents beginning to shine!

Even with all of this amazing progress, the situation at Toñito's home was volatile. He and his brother had to support themselves since their mother was unable to work. For several years now, Children's Cup has been able to bless the family with extra food so they could have something in their home. But, although the supply was there, it still didn't help them much because the boys had no one to help them cook. So some of the volunteers at the CarePoint tag teamed to cook the boys dinner on weeknights. On weekends, the brothers help out at a small diner where they are able to eat, and Toñito is currently an assistant there! With his humorous way of speaking, he has turned into quite the salesman, getting many people to come by and eat!

He is in 5th grade now, along with the other children his age from the CarePoint. One of his frequent phrases is, "I could catch up with them, but now I have to pass them and be better."

He is always challenging himself. And our team constantly encourages him that with hard work and effort, he can achieve his goals. When we asked him what his favorite Bible verse is, he shared Philippians 4:13. “I can do everything through Christ, who strengthens me” with the smile that characterizes him best.

Seeing a child experience hope that opens the door for them to dream and discover purpose is what it’s all about for us. We are so honored to get to walk alongside Antonio and to witness the transformation God has done in his life.

We can’t wait to see the bright future that’s ahead of him!

HOW TO BE A FRIEND

HOW TO BE A FRIEND

GIVE

With a monthly contribution of $44, Friends provide comprehensive support for one child to be part of the Children's Cup program offered at our CarePoints. This contribution covers all aspects of our three-part program, serving children in their body, mind, and spirit from childhood to young adulthood.

Your support ensures that the child receives holistic care, addressing their physical, intellectual, and spiritual needs. It enables us to provide nutritious meals, essential resources, and access to education to nurture their body and mind. Additionally, it allows us to offer spiritual guidance, mentorship, and life skills training to support their spiritual growth and development.

Through your monthly contribution, you play a vital role in empowering these children, enabling them to grow into confident, resilient young adults who can make a positive impact in their communities. Your generosity helps us fulfill our mission of giving hope, inspiring dreams, and changing the lives of these children, offering them a brighter future filled with possibilities.

ENGAGE

Engagement is indeed the heart of Friendship and is crucial for making a meaningful impact on the children's lives. By using the Friendship Dashboard, friends can actively encourage the children, offer prayers, and celebrate their victories. This platform, similar to a private Facebook group, provides a space to stay updated on the happenings at the CarePoint and foster connections with the children.

To take engagement to the next level, participating in team trips offers a firsthand experience of the incredible work being done. By joining these trips, friends can immerse themselves in the children's stories, dreams, and experiences, creating deeper connections and witnessing the transformative power of friendship in action.

Through active engagement on the Friendship Dashboard and participating in team trips, friends have the opportunity to make a real difference by providing encouragement, prayers, and celebration to the children while also gaining a deeper understanding of their lives and the impact of their support.
